How to add a fade in and fade out
Fades soften an abrupt musical opening and give a clip a gentle ending. In the Fades tab, set fade-in and fade-out durations separately from 0 to 5 seconds. A value of 0 disables that effect.

Where are fades applied?
The fade-in starts from silence at the beginning of the result; the fade-out lowers the sound toward its end. If you trim the recording, fades apply to the kept section. If you change speed, fades apply after that speed change.
How do I avoid fading out important words?
For speech, start with a short fade such as 0.5 seconds and check the first and last words. For music, try two seconds. Long fades can overlap on a short clip and make most of it quiet, so reduce their duration if needed.
